We want to make you aware that the Red Hat Migration Toolkit for Containers (MTC) will reach its End of Life (EOL) on December 31, 2026, with Maintenance Support officially ending on December 17, 2026. The final version, MTC 1.8.16, will be released by July 31, 2026.
What should you do next? For most users, the recommended upgrade path is the Migration Toolkit for Applications (MTA). MTA version 8.3 (releasing in September 2026) will offer full feature parity with MTC. Please be aware that MTA is not backwards compatible with the MTC API, so planning your transition early is highly advised.
For clients who only rely on MTC for data backup and restore, we recommend evaluating OpenShift Application Data Protection (OADP) as a streamlined alternative.
